Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Manager – Quality Data Science & Analytics to lead advanced analytics and AI-driven solutions across Unilever’s Global Quality Supply Chain. This role combines technical expertise in data science, machine learning, and visualization with strategic leadership, project management, and cross-functional collaboration. The ideal candidate will translate complex business needs into actionable insights, ensuring robust data governance, scalable analytics solutions, and measurable impact on product quality and consumer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Analytics & Data Science Leadership

  • Lead predictive analytics, AI/ML, and visualization projects to deliver scalable, evidence-based solutions for Quality operations.

  • Collaborate with Quality business teams to identify analytics opportunities and develop actionable insights.

  • Design, prototype, and validate AI solutions to monitor product performance and quality outcomes.

  • Develop and maintain KPIs, dashboards, and scorecards in Power BI for accurate reporting.

Data Governance & Process Optimization

  • Manage Change Requests (CRs) to align with evolving business needs.

  • Partner with global Data & Analytics teams for seamless data ingestion, validation, and governance.

  • Promote adoption of analytics and AI solutions through structured change management, capability building, and global rollouts.

Mentorship & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Mentor and guide team members in best practices for analytics, AI, and data science.

  • Present complex analyses to senior stakeholders in clear, actionable formats.

  • Represent Data Science and Generative AI initiatives in governance forums to influence adoption and strategy.

Rapid Insights & Innovation

  • Deliver ad-hoc analytics to address high-priority business challenges.

  • Promote Quality data capabilities internally and externally through community engagement and thought leadership.

Skills & Competencies

  • Advanced proficiency in Python, SQL, Excel, and analytics platforms.

  • Strong foundation in machine learning techniques: classification, regression, clustering, neural networks, and NLP.

  • Expertise in Power BI, KPI development, dashboard creation, and interactive visualizations.

  • Strong statistical analysis, data modeling, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills for non-technical and senior stakeholders.

  • Knowledge of Generative AI principles, integration, and potential applications.

  • Effective collaboration with cross-functional teams and third-party vendors.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field such as Computer Science, Data Science, or Engineering. Advanced degrees preferred.

  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience delivering data science, analytics, or AI solutions in complex business environments.

  • Proven track record in implementing analytics projects, ad-hoc reporting, and managing change requests.

  • Experience influencing business decisions through actionable insights and dashboards.
