About the Role

We are seeking a PhD or MD-qualified scientist with a broad interest in medical science to join our STMJ (Science, Technology, and Medical Journals) team as an Associate Scientific Editor. This role provides an exciting opportunity to support researchers in publishing high-quality, peer-reviewed work, shaping journal processes, and contributing to the future of science communication.

This is a full-time position based in Chennai, with potential travel to scientific conferences in the future.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the publication process of assigned manuscripts in a growing open-access journal.

  • Collaborate with the Heliyon team to develop journal content and editorial processes.

  • Build effective relationships across Cell Press and Elsevier teams.

  • Participate in innovative publishing initiatives that influence the global scientific community.

  • Ensure quality, accuracy, and efficiency in day-to-day editorial operations.

  • Support improvements in journal processes through creativity, attention to detail, and continuous improvement mindset.


Requirements

  • Doctoral degree (PhD/MD) in medical science or PhD in life sciences.

  • Deep knowledge and research experience in Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Infectious Diseases, Cancer Research, Pharmacology, Toxicology, Cardiology, Genetics.

  • Willingness to work across other sections such as Biochemistry, Molecular & Cell Biology, Immunology, Microbiology, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, and Clinical Research.

  • Knowledge of medical ethics, study design, and trial registration is an advantage.

  • Broad scientific interests and a passion for supporting researchers.

  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and project management skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.

  • Emphasis on quality monitoring and continuous improvement in publishing operations.
