Role Overview

ICON is seeking a Senior Clinical Data Science Programmer (Rave + Custom Function) to join its Clinical Data Science team in India. This role is responsible for leading the design, development, and validation of advanced clinical data programming solutions. The position requires strong expertise in Medidata Rave, custom functions, and clinical data standards to ensure high-quality data delivery across complex clinical trials.

The role offers the opportunity to work closely with biostatistics, data management, and clinical operations teams to deliver reliable, regulatory-compliant datasets and analytical outputs that support informed decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and validation of clinical data science programming solutions for global clinical trials

  • Develop and maintain custom functions within Medidata Rave to support complex data capture and transformations

  • Collaborate with biostatisticians, data managers, and clinical teams to define data specifications and analysis requirements

  • Program, validate, and review clinical datasets, tables, listings, and figures (TLFs) in accordance with study protocols

  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and traceability through robust quality control and validation processes

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior programmers, contributing to team capability building

  • Ensure compliance with CDISC standards, regulatory guidelines, and internal quality frameworks

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Biostatistics, Data Science, Life Sciences, or a related discipline

  • Minimum 4–7 years of hands-on experience in clinical data programming within a CRO or pharmaceutical environment

  • Strong expertise in Medidata Rave and Rave Custom Functions

  • Proven experience working with CDISC standards (SDTM, ADaM) and clinical trial data structures

  • Solid understanding of regulatory requirements and clinical data lifecycle management

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with high attention to data quality

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional and global teams
