Experience Required
Minimum 2+ years of experience in medical coding, preferably in Emergency Department (ED), Professional Fee (Profee), Outpatient coding, Denials, or related specialties.

Education
High School Graduate or equivalent qualification. A graduate degree in healthcare, life sciences, pharmacy, or a related field is considered an advantage.

Certifications Required
Professional certification such as CPC (Certified Professional Coder) from AAPC or CCS (Certified Coding Specialist) from AHIMA is required.

Job Overview
Med-Metrix is seeking a detail-oriented ED Profee Coder responsible for reviewing clinical documentation, assigning accurate CPT and ICD-10 codes, and supporting billing teams to ensure correct claim submission and reimbursement. The role requires strong knowledge of professional fee coding guidelines, regulatory compliance, and revenue cycle management processes.

The coder will collaborate with billing teams and internal stakeholders to maintain high coding accuracy, ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, and support efficient claim processing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review patient documentation and assign accurate CPT and ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes for emergency department professional fee services.

  • Ensure proper sequencing of diagnosis and procedure codes in accordance with coding guidelines and payer requirements.

  • Conduct coding audits and documentation reviews to ensure accuracy and completeness.

  • Collaborate with billing teams and system work queues to support accurate claim processing and reimbursement.

  • Ensure compliance with Medicare policies, coding initiatives, and healthcare regulatory standards.

  • Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information and comply with HIPAA regulations.

  • Follow internal coding workflows, documentation standards, and compliance requirements.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the management team.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of CPT and ICD-10-CM coding systems.

  • Familiarity with medical billing workflows and revenue cycle management processes.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.

  • Ability to work with coding software and healthcare documentation systems.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in surgical coding or outpatient coding environments.
