Role Overview

The Consultant – R&D Advisory role sits within the Syneos Health Consulting R&D Advisory Group, supporting life sciences and biopharmaceutical organizations in transforming their research, clinical development, regulatory, quality, and pharmacovigilance operations.

This position is ideal for a consulting professional with hands-on experience in R&D operations and transformation initiatives, who can partner with senior stakeholders to design and deliver strategic, operational, and technology-enabled solutions during periods of organizational change.


Key Responsibilities

Client Advisory & Engagement Delivery

  • Partner with senior client stakeholders to understand business objectives, operating models, and R&D processes

  • Design and deliver consulting engagements that improve efficiency, effectiveness, and scalability across R&D functions

  • Develop structured engagement plans, analytical frameworks, and implementation roadmaps

  • Present findings, insights, and recommendations to internal teams and client leadership

Business Development & Proposal Support

  • Contribute to the development of client proposals, including scope definition, solution design, delivery approach, and commercial models

  • Create reusable content, case studies, and thought leadership materials to support business development initiatives

  • Build and maintain professional networks through industry conferences, seminars, referrals, and digital channels

Quality & Stakeholder Management

  • Provide quality oversight for project deliverables, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment with client expectations

  • Support engagement management activities, including timelines, risk management, and cross-functional coordination


Required Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Life Sciences, Business, or a related discipline

  • Advanced degree preferred (Master’s in Life Sciences, Business, or equivalent)

Professional Experience

  • 5–8+ years of relevant experience in one or more of the following:

    • Life sciences or pharmaceutical consulting

    • Biotech or pharmaceutical industry roles with R&D operational exposure

    • Consulting management within R&D, clinical development, regulatory, quality, or pharmacovigilance functions

  • Proven experience in engagement management and client-facing consulting roles

  • Demonstrated ability to work across R&D operational domains, either in industry or consulting environments


Core Skills & Competencies

  • Strong consulting, stakeholder management, and presentation skills

  • Ability to translate complex operational challenges into actionable recommendations

  • Experience developing client-facing deliverables and executive presentations

  • Commercial acumen, including proposal development and solution positioning

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Business, or a related field

  • Experience supporting organizational transformation, process optimization, or technology implementation initiatives within R&D

  • Demonstrated success contributing to business development and client growth activities


Compensation & Benefits

The annual base salary range for this position is USD 122,000 to USD 135,000, depending on qualifications, experience, and role alignment. Additional compensation may include performance-based bonuses or incentives, where applicable.
