Pathologists' Assistant – Surgical Pathology (Los Angeles, CA)

Job Summary

UCLA Health is hiring a Pathologists’ Assistant to join its Surgical Pathology team in Los Angeles. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to diagnostic excellence and cutting-edge research. Whether you're a seasoned professional or a new graduate, your role will be vital in processing complex surgical specimens, training new pathology staff, and assisting in intraoperative consultations. This full-time, on-site position offers a competitive salary range of $92,600 – $202,200 annually, based on experience.


Key Responsibilities

  • Dissect, describe, and histologically sample a full range of surgical pathology specimens

  • Conduct specimen photography and radiography

  • Perform frozen sections and assist in intraoperative consultations

  • Procure tissue for tumor banking and research studies

  • Identify and troubleshoot surgical pathology-related issues

  • Assist with accessioning and accurate specimen labeling

  • Train and orient residents, fellows, new hires, and PA students in pathology lab procedures


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Master’s degree from a NAACLS-accredited Pathologists’ Assistant program

  • ASCP certification (or eligibility) preferred

  • Strong knowledge of surgical specimen grossing and intraoperative techniques

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a high-volume, academic medical environment

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

  • New graduates are encouraged to apply
