Position Summary:

Syneos Health is seeking an experienced Associate Director of Real World Evidence (RWE) to lead a sponsor-dedicated, US-based remote team. This role provides strategic, technical, and operational leadership for real-world data (RWD) analytics, observational research, and RWE initiatives across the drug development lifecycle. The Associate Director ensures high-quality delivery of RWE outputs, drives continuous improvement, and oversees professional development for the RWE team.


Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead and mentor a cross-functional RWE team, including staffing, performance management, and professional development.

  • Oversee onboarding, ongoing training, and competency development for staff.

  • Manage workload allocation, resource planning, and budget tracking for FSP activities.

  • Serve as primary point of escalation and facilitate effective communication between Sponsor and FSP teams.

Scientific & Technical Oversight

  • Provide guidance on RWE analytics, epidemiology, study design, and operational execution.

  • Ensure accuracy, quality, and timely delivery of RWE workstreams in alignment with project objectives.

  • Support consulting on RWE projects, including review of workload and deliverables.

Process & Compliance Management

  • Drive continuous improvement in documentation, quality control, and process discipline.

  • Ensure adherence to regulatory standards and sponsor requirements.

  • Maintain alignment between strategic priorities and operational execution.


Required Qualifications:

  • Proven leadership experience managing scientific, analytical, or operational teams in a cross-functional environment.

  • Strong expertise in RWE, RWD sources (claims, EHR, registries, clinico-genomic), and applications across clinical, regulatory, safety, and commercial use cases.

  • Demonstrated experience in observational research, epidemiology, and real-world analytics.

  • Ability to balance strategic and operational priorities effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in quantitative sciences, data science, epidemiology, life sciences, or related field.

  • Experience supporting RWE in Sponsor, biotech, pharmaceutical, consulting, or CRO environments.

  • Prior experience in FSP or Sponsor-dedicated delivery models.

  • Familiarity with cross-functional, matrixed organizations and remote team leadership.

Experience:

  • Minimum 7–10 years of experience in RWE, observational research, or related scientific/analytics roles.
