Role Overview:

Syneos Health is seeking an Associate Director of Real World Evidence (RWE) to lead a sponsor-dedicated, US-based remote team. The Associate Director will provide leadership, technical guidance, and operational oversight for real-world data (RWD) analytics, observational research, and RWE initiatives. This role ensures high-quality RWE deliverables, promotes team development, and drives process improvement across the drug development lifecycle.


Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead and mentor a cross-functional RWE team, managing staffing, performance, and professional development.

  • Oversee onboarding, training, and ongoing competency development for team members.

  • Allocate resources effectively, optimize workloads, and track FSP project budgets.

  • Serve as a primary point of escalation, ensuring effective communication between Sponsor and FSP teams.

Scientific & Technical Oversight

  • Provide technical guidance on RWE analytics, epidemiology, study design, and operational execution.

  • Ensure timely, accurate, and high-quality delivery of RWE workstreams aligned with project objectives.

  • Review project workloads and consult on high-priority RWE initiatives.

Process & Compliance Management

  • Promote continuous improvement in documentation, quality control, and operational processes.

  • Ensure adherence to regulatory and sponsor requirements.

  • Balance strategic priorities with operational execution to maximize team efficiency and project outcomes.


Required Qualifications:

  • Proven leadership experience in managing scientific, analytical, or operational teams.

  • Expertise in RWE, RWD sources (claims, EHR, registries, clinico-genomic), and applications across clinical, regulatory, safety, and commercial contexts.

  • Experience in observational research, epidemiology, or real-world analytics.

  • Strong skills in managing cross-functional, matrixed teams and remote workforce.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in data science, quantitative sciences, epidemiology, life sciences, or related field.

  • Experience supporting RWE in Sponsor, biotech, pharmaceutical, consulting, or CRO environments.

  • Knowledge of FSP or Sponsor-dedicated delivery models.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate across multiple stakeholders.

Experience Required:

  • 7–10 years in RWE, observational research, epidemiology, or related scientific/analytical roles.
