Role Overview

The Associate Director – R2R (Reporting) will report to the AVP – Finance and lead the Record-to-Report function, ensuring robust financial controls while enabling business strategy. This role is critical for statutory compliance, financial reporting, audit management, and process optimization across domestic and international operations.

Key Responsibilities

Compliance and Audit

  • Develop and implement systems and processes to ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory norms.

  • Oversee adherence to accounting standards, contract compliance, employee/vendor payments, income tax, TDS, GST, RBI guidelines, and other statutory requirements.

  • Manage internal and external audits (IFCR, internal assurance audits), provide clarifications, track actions, and ensure timely closure of non-compliances.

  • Update policies in line with changing laws and regulatory requirements across jurisdictions.

  • Ensure timely books closure and SEBI reporting with zero non-compliance in audits.

Financial Reporting

  • Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial closings.

  • Prepare quarterly earnings releases and support preparation of annual and quarterly reports.

  • Interpret and communicate IFRS/Ind AS guidance, prepare technical memorandums, and advise management on complex accounting matters.

  • Manage relationships and communications with external auditors on financial statements and disclosures.

  • Supervise international accounting operations and resolve complex accounting issues.

  • Implement and maintain global accounting policies, reporting procedures, and internal controls.

  • Review balance sheets, payables, provisions, accruals, deferrals, and related-party reconciliations.

  • Ensure compliance with SEBI reporting requirements and statutory filings.

Team Leadership

  • Track team performance, provide guidance, and ensure achievement of departmental objectives.

  • Foster a culture of engagement, learning, and adherence to Syngene’s core values of Excellence, Integrity, and Professionalism.

  • Champion environment, health, safety, and sustainability (EHSS) practices within the finance function.

Experience Required

  • 10–15 years of progressive experience in finance, accounting, and reporting functions, preferably in pharma or listed organizations.

  • Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification is mandatory.

  • Hands-on experience with SAP S4 HANA or similar ERP systems is highly desirable.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong accounting, audit, and statutory compliance knowledge.

  • Deep understanding of finance workflows, process optimization, and digital finance tools.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking capabilities.

  • Effective stakeholder management and communication skills.
