We are looking for experienced and motivated medical coding professionals to review inpatient and observation records, ensure accurate coding, and drive client success through quality and compliance. This role involves hands-on coding, documentation analysis, and client-facing collaboration to deliver superior outcomes in inpatient medical coding.
Review inpatient and observation medical records to assign appropriate diagnosis (ICD-10-CM), procedure (ICD-10-PCS), and CPT codes with modifiers.
Ensure accurate MS-DRG assignment by applying knowledge of MDC, AP-DRG, and APR-DRG.
Apply understanding of CC/MCC impact on coding and reimbursement.
Comply with UHDDS guidelines, AHA Coding Clinic updates, and third-party coding/documentation requirements.
Write compliant physician queries in accordance with OIG and UHDDS regulations.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of HIPAA and coding compliance standards.
Report and escalate coding deviations or discrepancies promptly.
Meet or exceed internal accuracy standards (95%), turnaround time (TAT), and productivity benchmarks.
Participate in internal audits, quality checks, and coding improvement initiatives.
Demonstrate high levels of professional ethics and coding integrity.
Actively engage in coding team meetings, refresher trainings, and educational programs.
Stay current with regulatory changes and industry updates.
Contribute to internal training programs and support certification readiness.
Preferably experienced with Encoder tools such as 3M, TruCode, etc.
Graduate in Life Sciences or equivalent field.
CCS (Certified Coding Specialist) or CIC (Certified Inpatient Coder) – Preferred.
Candidates are encouraged to pursue AAPC/AHIMA certifications, with sponsorship and training support from Access Healthcare.
1–4 years of experience in hospital inpatient medical coding.
Strong knowledge of:
ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT coding
DRG systems (MS-DRG, APR-DRG, AP-DRG, MDC)
Medical terminology, anatomy, and clinical documentation
Good understanding of billing systems, coding compliance, and regulatory frameworks
Strong analytical and comprehension abilities
High attention to detail, professionalism, and accountability
