Position Overview

The Medical Receptionist Float will work across multiple locations in the Houston area, offering a professional and welcoming experience for patients. This role involves checking patients in and out, ensuring insurance verification, collecting payments, updating patient information, and assisting with follow-up appointments. Flexibility is required as the position will float between multiple designated offices, including MDK Humble, Hillcroft, Westbury, Aldine, and more.

Key Responsibilities

  • Patient Check-In: Update patient demographics, insurance information, collect co-pays, and provide necessary consent and health questionnaires.
  • Patient Check-Out: Collect balances, provide visit summaries, referral information, and schedule follow-up appointments.
  • Insurance Verification: Confirm patient insurance status and reach out for any necessary updates.
  • Charges and Payments: Post charges, process payments, and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Documentation: Scan and upload documents into the Document Management system.
  • General Office Tasks: Maintain cleanliness in work and waiting areas, handle mail, and participate in educational meetings.

Qualifications

  • Experience: A minimum of 1 year in a medical office setting is preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification: Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Skills:
    • Strong grammar, spelling, and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to interact effectively with patients and staff, maintaining a professional demeanor.
    • Experience with office equipment (computer, scanner, printer, fax).
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow organizational procedures.

Working Conditions

  • Patient-facing, with potential remote/telework options.
  • 15%-20% travel required between different office locations.
  • Indoor work with occasional sitting, standing, and light lifting (up to 10 lbs).

Physical Requirements

  • Good vision, sense of sound, touch, and smell.
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
