Role Overview:
The Director – Biostatistics will provide strategic and operational leadership for Lilly’s Global Statistical Sciences (GSS) at the Bangalore site. This role oversees statistical deliverables across the Lilly portfolio, ensuring high-quality, innovative, and efficient delivery to support drug development, regulatory submissions, and commercialization. The Director will lead a team of statisticians, foster technical excellence, and drive alignment with global GSS strategies while promoting innovation and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Leadership & Site Management:

  • Provide strategic direction for GSS operations at LCCI, aligning with global and local priorities.

  • Partner with site leadership, global GSS teams, and functional units to optimize resource planning, forecasting, and delivery efficiency.

  • Drive continuous improvement in processes, methodologies, and operational excellence within the biostatistics team.

  • Represent GSS in internal and external forums, fostering scientific credibility and influence.

2. Statistical & Analytical Expertise:

  • Build and maintain advanced statistical capabilities within the team, providing oversight of hands-on statistical activities.

  • Develop strategies to enhance therapeutic, scientific, and methodological expertise in support of business objectives.

  • Leverage national and international networks to address complex scientific questions and support innovation.

  • Facilitate collaboration with academic and professional organizations to advance statistical methodologies.

3. People Management & Development:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing biostatistics team, including direct reports and multi-level leadership.

  • Recruit, retain, and cultivate talent with diverse statistical and analytical skill sets.

  • Foster an inclusive, innovative, and collaborative organizational culture.

  • Support professional growth through coaching, skill development, and career planning.

4. Enterprise Leadership:

  • Exhibit strong business acumen and problem-solving skills within cross-functional teams.

  • Monitor external scientific and industry trends to ensure the site remains competitive and innovative.

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and internal quality standards.

  • Manage fiscal responsibilities for GSS operations at LCCI.

Qualifications & Experience Required:

  • Ph.D. in Statistics or Biostatistics.

  • Minimum 15 years of industry experience, including 7 years in supervisory roles; 5+ years as a leader of leaders preferred.

  • Broad understanding of drug development, regulatory expectations, and industry best practices.

  • Proven ability to develop and implement strategies across people, processes, and technology in a matrixed organization.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to influence across global teams.

  • Demonstrated success in leading high-performing teams, driving innovation, and delivering results in a complex, fast-paced environment.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to work collaboratively with global teams and partners.

  • Expected travel: approximately 10%.

  • Strong problem-solving and risk mitigation capabilities.
