Job Overview

The Director – Medical Affairs (Heart Failure) is a senior leadership role responsible for providing strategic and operational medical oversight across product development, clinical research, quality, compliance, and commercial support for heart failure medical devices. Reporting directly to the Chief Medical Officer, this position plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective use of advanced cardiovascular technologies, including hemodynamic monitoring and mechanical circulatory support systems.

This remote role requires strong clinical expertise, proven medical affairs leadership, and the ability to engage effectively with regulatory bodies, professional societies, Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), and internal cross-functional teams.


Key Responsibilities

Medical Leadership & Strategy

  • Develop and provide expert medical opinions, medical platform documents, and Health Hazard Assessments.

  • Contribute medical expertise to new product development and lifecycle management initiatives.

  • Serve as a core medical representative on risk evaluation and investigation teams.

Clinical Research & Evidence Generation

  • Provide medical oversight and regional responsibility for Investigator-Initiated Studies (IIS) and research grant programs.

  • Support clinical research activities through interpretation, presentation, and communication of clinical data.

  • Contribute to professional education activities with evidence-based medical content.

Quality, Safety & Compliance

  • Provide medical input for MDR reporting, quality investigations, and regulatory communications.

  • Support development of customer-facing quality documents, technical bulletins, and quality directives.

  • Ensure accurate documentation and governance of off-label discussions in accordance with regulatory requirements.

  • Maintain and update medical affairs SOPs and procedural documentation.

Commercial & Customer Engagement

  • Provide compliant medical input for promotional and commercial activities when requested.

  • Engage directly with customers to deliver accurate medical and scientific information.

  • Support marketing and commercial teams with high-quality medical insights while maintaining scientific integrity.

External Representation & KOL Engagement

  • Assist the Chief Medical Officer in representing the organization to regulatory agencies and professional societies.

  • Build and strengthen relationships with KOLs and external clinical experts in cardiovascular medicine.

  • Support strategic engagement with professional societies and scientific organizations.


Education & Qualifications

  • MD strongly preferred

  • PhD in a relevant scientific discipline will be considered

  • Formal training or experience in cardiovascular medicine is highly desirable


Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of overall professional experience

  • At least 5 years of hands-on clinical experience, including cardiovascular medicine

  • Proven experience in Medical Affairs leadership within medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or healthcare technology

  • Strong background in clinical research, including data interpretation and scientific presentation
