Position Summary:

This Director-level position is responsible for leading the nuclear medical physics strategy across Lilly’s Radiopharmaceutical Therapy (RPT) Oncology portfolio—from early discovery through late-phase development. The role includes the application of dosimetry, imaging sciences, and regulatory expertise to shape the future of radiopharmaceutical drug development at Lilly.


Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Dosimetry Oversight

  • Lead strategy and implementation of internal and external dosimetry analysis across the RPT pipeline.

  • Drive integration of nuclear medical physics in PK/PD modeling, drug design, and decision-making.

Study Design & Documentation

  • Author and contribute to:

    • Clinical protocols

    • Imaging and dosimetry manuals

    • Patient release criteria

  • Ensure compliance with GCP, regulatory expectations, and imaging standards.

Regulatory & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Act as the internal expert on nuclear physics and dosimetry for development teams.

  • Collaborate with:

    • Health authorities

    • Internal development teams

    • Imaging vendors, software partners, and CROs

  • Support negotiation of regulatory agreements related to RPT dosimetry strategies.

Scientific & Technical Leadership

  • Provide expertise in:

    • PET, SPECT, CT, MRI, and Bone Scan imaging interpretation

    • Dosimetry software (voxel- and MIRD-based)

    • Imaging qualification and system calibration

  • Guide software platform selection and capability development within Lilly.

Business Development & Innovation

  • Evaluate RPT business development opportunities from a dosimetry and imaging perspective.

  • Stay current on scientific advances and regulatory developments to inform best practices.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in:

    • Medical Physics

    • Nuclear Physics

    • Medical Imaging or related discipline

  • 5+ years relevant experience in:

    • Radiopharmaceutical dosimetry

    • Nuclear medicine imaging analysis

  • Proven ability to communicate complex results clearly to scientific and cross-functional teams.


Preferred Experience:

  • Board certification in Nuclear Medical Physics or equivalent

  • Prior experience in oncology drug development

  • Familiarity with:

    • Imaging and dosimetry manuals

    • Clinical camera qualification

    • Regulatory submissions for RPTs

  • Strong initiative and capacity to build enterprise-wide imaging capabilities.


Work Environment & Travel:

  • Role is remote with travel requirements of ~15%

  • Standard office setting, mostly virtual interaction with teams and partners


Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary Range: $168,000 – $294,800
