Role Overview

The Medical Monitor / Medical Director – Dermatologist provides therapeutic expertise and medical oversight for dermatology-focused clinical trials. This role serves as the primary medical contact for internal teams, sponsors, and clinical sites, ensuring subject safety, protocol compliance, and scientific integrity throughout the study lifecycle.

Responsibilities include protocol review, site feasibility evaluation, therapeutic training, and oversight of data collection and monitoring, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards.


Key Responsibilities

Clinical Oversight & Therapeutic Input

  • Provide medical monitoring for assigned dermatology studies, acting as the primary point of contact for sponsors and study teams.

  • Review and contribute to protocol design, protocol amendments, and study start-up materials.

  • Deliver project-specific and therapeutic training to study team members, site staff, and sponsor personnel.

  • Support feasibility assessments, subject identification, and informed consent document reviews.

Data & Safety Management

  • Oversee Medical Scientist staff and colleagues in data review, identifying trends, safety signals, and risks.

  • Provide after-hours medical coverage for clinical trials as required.

  • Ensure compliance with FDA regulations, ICH GCP guidelines, and company SOPs.

Collaboration & Leadership

  • Engage with internal teams, sponsors, and stakeholders to address study needs and resolve medical or operational issues.

  • Support responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) or Bid Defense Meetings (BDMs) as needed.

  • Represent the Company at scientific meetings or conferences, when requested.


Required Qualifications

  • Medical degree with board certification or specialization in Dermatology.

  • Proven experience in clinical research, medical monitoring, or clinical development oversight.

  • Strong knowledge of drug development processes, clinical trial design, and regulatory compliance.

  • Excellent leadership, collaboration, and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment, manage multiple priorities, and deliver high-quality results.

Travel: Minimal, as required for business or audit meetings.
